APPOINTMENT OF HONORARY ALDERMAN AND PRESENTATION OF THE ENGROSSMENTS OF THE RESOLUTION AND BADGE OF OFFICE 1. To receive an address from the Leader of the Council, Councillor Beales, following the resolution passed at Council on 26th June 2025, that under Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council places on record its deep appreciation of the eminent services rendered by former Councillor Margaret Wilkinson and that in recognition of such service, the Council confers on her the title of Honorary Alderman.

The Leader of the Council, Councillor Beales reminded Councillors that at the previous meeting Council had resolved to bestow the honour of Honorary Alderman to former Councillor Margaret Wilkinson. He spoke in support of the resolution and reminded Council of the achievements of the former Councillor.
Councillors Bone, Dark, Spikings, Kemp, Joyce, Everett, Rust, Heneghan and Jones all spoke in support of the award and highlighted the achievements of former Councillor Margaret Wilkinson.
The Mayor gave a speech and then presented Honorary Alderman Margaret Wilkinson an illuminated engrossment of the resolution and Aldermanic Badge.
Margaret Wilkinson thanked Council and spoke in acceptance of the award.
RESOLVED: That the title of Honorary Alderman was conferred on former Councillor Mrs Margaret Wilkinson.
